Know the Cost Before We Arrive

Our residential service charge depends on where you are located. Here is what it costs to get a factory-trained technician to your door.

Western Long Island
$199*

Standard Service Call

Nassau County plus western and central Suffolk. Covers the technician's visit, a complete diagnosis, parts research, and a written repair estimate.

The East End
$349*

Hamptons & North Fork

The higher trip fee reflects the added distance our technician travels to the far reaches of eastern Long Island.

Manhattan & Brooklyn
$349*

City Service Area

All of Manhattan and the northwest Brooklyn neighborhoods we cover, priced for city travel and access.

Montauk & Shelter Island
$499*

The Far East End

Montauk and the far tip of Long Island, plus ferry-served Shelter Island. These are the longest trips we make.

* Have more than one appliance acting up? We can look at each additional one on the same visit for $99. A small number of ultra-premium brands carry a $399 service charge in every area except Montauk and Shelter Island, where the $499 service charge applies.

Fire Island: we service it when most companies will not. Because it is ferry-only with no cars, we handle these calls case by case, with custom pricing. Call the office and we will work out the details.

Running a restaurant or commercial kitchen? Commercial equipment is priced by the job, not by these residential rates. See our commercial repair page.

What You're Paying For

Every home repair is one fair, flat price, agreed before the work begins. Here is what stands behind it.

240 Hours Before the First Visit

Every technician completes at least 240 hours of training before working in the field, and keeps training throughout their career, on the premium and professional brands many shops turn away.

We Know Your Machine

"Fixed what two other companies couldn't" shows up in our reviews again and again. Sixty-three years working on European and professional equipment, week in and week out.

Straight on Price

No guesswork and no pressure. You get the full repair cost in writing before any work begins, shown against the cost of replacing the appliance, so the decision is always yours.

We Stand Behind Our Repairs

One-Year Guarantee

Residential repairs are backed by a one-year guarantee on parts and labor, with limited exceptions noted in our Terms and Conditions. It is a guarantee we are confident standing behind.

Frequently Asked Questions About Cost

Why do you charge a service fee when other companies waive it?

When a company waives the service fee if you go ahead with the repair, the cost of that visit does not disappear. It gets folded into the repair price, where you cannot see it. Here is the same repair, two ways:

  • One company waives its $100 service fee and prices the repair at $600, for a $600 total.
  • Another keeps the $100 service fee visible and charges $500 for the same repair, also a $600 total.

The service call buys something real on its own: a factory-trained technician who fully diagnoses the appliance and tells you honestly whether it is worth fixing, even when the answer is to replace it rather than repair it.

Why is the repair one flat price instead of an itemized, hourly bill?

For a residential repair, we charge a single flat rate, using national appliance job-rate standards, the industry "blue book," rather than an hourly clock. That one price already accounts for the parts, the skilled labor, the expert diagnosis, and the cost of running stocked, insured trucks.

For you it means the price is agreed before the work starts and does not climb if the job turns out to take longer than expected. You are never billed by the hour for a technician's time. You pay one fair price for the completed repair, known upfront.

How much will my repair cost?

After the diagnosis you get the complete repair price in writing before any work begins, and you decide whether to proceed. For a sense of typical costs, use the calculator further down this page: pick your brand and appliance to see the median repair cost, drawn from 1,444 of our own completed jobs.

Do you guarantee your repairs?

Yes. Residential repairs are backed by a one-year guarantee on parts and labor, with limited exceptions noted in our Terms and Conditions. If the same fault returns within the year, we come back and make it right.

Are you factory authorized for my brand?

We are a factory-authorized servicer for many premium and European brands, including Bosch, Thermador, Gaggenau, Miele, BlueStar, Fisher & Paykel, DCS, ILVE, and Liebherr, among others. If you are not sure whether we cover your appliance, call our office and we will confirm before you book.

Why does the service charge change by area?

The service charge depends only on how far our technician travels. Western Long Island is $199, the East End is $349, and the far East End is $499: Montauk and the South Fork are a long drive out, and Shelter Island is reached by ferry. A small number of ultra-premium brands carry a $399 service charge in every area except Montauk and Shelter Island, where the $499 charge applies. Each additional appliance looked at on the same visit is $99.

Should I repair or replace my appliance?

That comes down to the repair cost against the price of a comparable new appliance. Our free Repair vs. Replace Calculator lays both side by side, so the decision is yours.

What Repairs Typically Cost

Compiled from 1,444 completed repair visits between August 2025 and August 2026. Typical cost is the median: half of repairs cost less, half cost more. All figures are before tax.

Family Owned, Factory Trained, Since 1963

RD Appliance Service started as a one-man shop repairing washing machines in Queens in 1963. Today we are a multi-technician, factory-authorized servicer for the premium brands homeowners rely on, and the same family still stands behind the work.

Three generations of the same family still run the shop, from the founder who opened it to the grandchildren learning the trade today. The factory training, the manufacturer relationships, and the standards behind every repair have been handed down along the way.
